Central Coast Veterans Memorial Museum (CCVMM) Non-Paid Internship Opportunities:
The CCVMM is a non-profit, SLO-based museum focused on collecting and sharing the experiences of Central California natives and communities as it relates to military conflicts. Some of more recent exhibits and events include: commemorating the 81st anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Habor, where we unveiled a piece of the U.S.S. Arizona that we had been gifted; hosting The Wall that Heals (along with SLO County Veterans Affairs), a traveling replica of Vietnam War memorial in Washington D.C. that recognizes the American personnel lost during the war; Lost at Sea, an exhibit created for Memorial Day last year in which we focused on Central California residents who were declared "lost at sea" during a conflict as well as the many ships that were attacked along the California Coast during World War II; this Memorial Day, we will be focusing on the Bataan Death March and the contributions of the Pilipino community in Central California. The CCVMM also works with the Library of Congress to collect the oral histories of veterans from all across the West Coast so that personal and realistic accounts of conflicts can be preserved and used to amend popular narratives.
